this is my favorite picture i took at The Cloisters...
i love the light and the contrast.

you can really tell that they brought over the old parts from Europe.
the whole place had a distinctly European feel to it.

even now, looking at these photos,
how i wish i was back there!

in one corner there was this little orange tree.

NYC May 2010: day three {part one}

day three, we got on the subway and went up to 190th street to go to The Cloisters, a part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. this is some of the scenery as we walked to the castle.

the park we walked through was called Fort Tryon Park.
a very beautiful, serene place.

these park benches beckoned those of us walking past to forget our agenda, and spend some time with them... which we didn't do, unfortunately.

NYC May 2010: day two {part two}

after Dad and i rejoined mom, we walked around the Rockefeller Center. there were a number of statues that i wanted to see, the first of which was this one of Prometheus. where the umbrellas are now, once it gets cold, that whole area becomes the skating rink.

the entrance to the skating rink is guarded by two of these handsome men...

after a quick trip to the MOMA, we headed over to the Rockefeller Center, while Mom stayed with her feet firmly planted on solid ground, Dad and i went up to the Top of the Rock.
