NYC May 2010: day three {part three}

this is my favorite picture i took at The Cloisters...
i love the light and the contrast.

you can really tell that they brought over the old parts from Europe.
the whole place had a distinctly European feel to it.

even now, looking at these photos,
how i wish i was back there!

in one corner there was this little orange tree.

dark to light contrast = love

mom standing by the fountain. :-)

this one just seemed right to be in black and white

NYC May 2010: day three {part two}

Todd, Ang, Dad and Mom

walking up the side of the castle.

so beautifully made...
were it not for the air conditioner in the window, it could be a photo of another era...

i love this shot. it's my second favorite i took at The Cloisters.

tomorrow i'll show you my favorite...

NYC May 2010: day three {part one}

day three, we got on the subway and went up to 190th street to go to The Cloisters, a part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. this is some of the scenery as we walked to the castle.

the park we walked through was called Fort Tryon Park.
a very beautiful, serene place.

these park benches beckoned those of us walking past to forget our agenda, and spend some time with them... which we didn't do, unfortunately.

a first look at The Cloisters.

almost there...

a sure sign that we've arrived!

more on monday...

NYC May 2010: day two {part two}

after Dad and i rejoined mom, we walked around the Rockefeller Center. there were a number of statues that i wanted to see, the first of which was this one of Prometheus. where the umbrellas are now, once it gets cold, that whole area becomes the skating rink.

the entrance to the skating rink is guarded by two of these handsome men...

the Rockefeller Center, from the bottom to the top.

St. Patrick's Cathedral

another statue i wanted to see was this one of Atlas.
he was hiding right across the street from St. Patrick's Cathedral.

another external shot.
once again, how i love old churches...

we couldn't take many photos inside, as there was a service going on while we were there, but you can see how beautiful it is.

NYC May 2010: day two {part one}

after a quick trip to the MOMA, we headed over to the Rockefeller Center, while Mom stayed with her feet firmly planted on solid ground, Dad and i went up to the Top of the Rock.

Central Park from the Top of the Rock...

Dad and the Empire State Building
love this picture...

NYC May 2010: day one {part six}

ah, the Brooklyn Bridge.
one of the things i absolutely had to do was walk the Brooklyn Bridge.
so perfect...

far off in the distance, the Chrysler building...

so intricate...

so majestic...

sitting on the Brooklyn Bridge...

Todd taking a photo of Ang & i sitting on the bridge...

love, love, love this bridge!

this conclude my photos from day one.
tomorrow we get to move on to day two!

5.18.2010

NYC May 2010: day one {part five}

one last look at Trinity Church as we walked down Wall Street...

statue of George Washington.
i think he looks very presidential...

oh to be Audrey Hepburn...
somehow i am feeling the need to watch the movie yet again.

NYC May 2010: day one {part two}

i love the clouds and sky reflected in this glass building.

walking towards Broadway, i caught this back angle of St. Paul's Chapel.

in the St. Paul's churchyard. i love birdbaths under trees.

more to come tomorrow...
